CarreraThon Marathon/Half Marathon

Training Program

CarreraThon Training Program is specifically designed to get you ready for MARATHON SEASON. Whether your sights are set on the San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll, or other Half/Marathons on your bucket list, you’ll be MARATHON READY. The CarreraThon Training Program is a complement to the GUSTO Readiness Series and available to anyone who signs up for GUSTO Series races.

The CarreraThon Training Program will be guided by experienced marathon runners and will include training MeetUps 3 times a week (Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings) beginning on Sunday, July 24.

Runners who sign up receive these amenities:

  • 3 regular MeetUps per week (Tues, Thurs, Sun)
  • Technical training shirt
  • Training with Coaches: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced
  • Access to Coaches for your success
  • Experienced Pacers
  • Online portal for information, resources, and curriculum
  • Monthly chip-timed Time Trials with splits to measure your performance
  • Dedicated training for runners with ambitions for their next Half/Full Marathon
  • Social runs, socializing, and more!

Training Program


Base
Base is the most important phase of marathon training. You can complete a marathon on just doing base training.

Strength Training
It is crucial to build up your Strength and Endurance. Main workouts will be tempo runs, fartlek and increase of mileage.

Speed
This is to gain speed through a series of speed repetition workouts such as fartlek and track workouts with minimum recovery in between repetitions.

Taper
Decrease of mileage, main workouts will be speed repetitions with long recovery in between.

The Training Program is designed for ALL runners - beginners just learning to run, intermediates with experience, and disciplinarians who are taking no chances about training and readiness.

Training MeetUps

MeetUps are three (3) times a week on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Want to try before you buy? You are welcome to run with us for a week with no obligation. Just show up at any of our MeetUps. Our group is inclusive, friendly, supportive, and fun so you’ll fit right in!

Time Trials

Time Trials will be scheduled regularly throughout training to gauge your progress. These time trials are an excellent tool with immediate and useful feedback.
